What a Blessing

We have been so busy that I haven't had a moment to post! This one may be a long one, so get excited!

FIRST, We were able to bless Bryson this weekend.


Adam did an incredible job. We are so blessed to be so supported! We had two of my sisters come down and my parents. Adam also had his brother Jarrett and family, our sister-in-law Milka, his parents, and our grandma White, along with lots of really great friends there.



After the blessing we had a small luncheon back at our condo! The weather couldn't have been better! It was a perfect day!


SECOND, My sister Tammy and her husband came down this past weekend a little early to "tour" Page. We decided to take them to the famous Antelope Slot Canyons. My cousins Dennis and Marsha baby-sat Bryson so that we could both go! We have wanted to go for a while, but were waiting on some family to come down to go with. It was well worth the money (though it was a little pricey!) It took about an hour and a half to go through the canyon and back.





After the canyon tour, we met up with my parents and my mom and I came back to the condo, while my dad, the Asays, and Adam went to hike to Horseshoe bend. Believe it or not, this is a very very simple hike ... only about 1/2 mile!



OH We have some great news! Bryson has a new cousin on my side! Marney, my sister had her baby! They haven't told us a name yet, but the last I heard, they were leaning toward Adison. She was born yesterday at 1:20 pm and was 7 lbs. 4 oz 19 inches long. We are so happy for their family. After having 3 boys, Marney finally got her girl! YEAH MARN!

During General Conference I made a little felt quite book for Bryson. It may be a little while until he can use it, but I sure had a great time making it. There are shapes to button on, and the other shapes have velcro behind them.


Last but not least, We have a few more picts of Bryson. We got our family pictures back, so there is a little slide show. Also, Bryson started smiling a few weeks ago! He had his two month check up last Monday and weighs 14 lbs 4 oz. already! What a little chunker! We are finally starting to get the hang of this parenting thing. Bryson is such a joy and I love those sweet cheeks! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Hello Everyone!

Now 7 weeks, Bryson is starting to be more active ... in many ways! Sunday and Monday he gave us his first little coo's and is starting to give us those first signs of a smile. The smiles help in-between the spells of being upset! I thought in having a baby I would have a perfect child! We are starting to learn that it is a good thing he is so dang cute, because those constant cries can be frustrating at times.

For Easter weekend, we traveled up to Utah. Bryson did really great in the car and we only had to stop once to feed and change him. We traveled up on the 20th to use the Jazz Tickets Mandy won at her work Christmas party. Mandy's parents took Bryson, and though the Jazz lost to the Lakers, the seats we thought were pretty good and it was fun to get away. (We even saw Heidi while we were there!)



The next day felt like a rat race. It started out getting both me and Adam's hair cut at Krissa's house ... I needed a change, Adam needed a haircut, and Krissa was so excited to finally meet Bryson!



Then to the mall to find cloths to use for our family pictures. Next was to Timpanogos hospital for a test for Bryson. You see, my son projectial spits up all the time, and our doctor in Kanab thought that it might a sign of pyloric sensors. It is a something they commonly they find in newborns where the food isn't getting to their stomach. If you can't tell by Bryson's cubby cheeks, we were pretty sure that wasn't the problem, but didn't want to take any chances. Turns out we were right ... he is fine. We were so frustrated that the appointment took 2 1/2 hours, so I couldn't stop by American Crafts to show Bryson to my co-workers. We had an appointment to get our family pictures taken by a family friend in Alpine. We will be sure to post the pictures when we get them. STAY TUNED!

We felt like we wanted to crash after finishing our day, but spent the rest of the weekend with my family eating out, and celebrating Easter. On Easter Sunday we were planning on leaving after church but ended up staying through Sunday evening. (We didn't want to miss out on the Easter egg hunt Sunday night) Bryson was a little young this year for the hunt, but we couldn't resist putting the ears he got from the Easter bunny on! Here are a few pictures of my nephews and nieces that we took!






We left on Monday morning at 4 am AZ time because we had to get Adam back to work. It made for a really tiring start to our week, but felt like it was worth it to spend a little more time with the fam!

Becoming new parents has been quite the experience. Bryson has done really well at night, but in the day seems to get upset for a few hours. It can be frustrating, but we are hoping that stage will go away soon! In the last couple of weeks Bryson has grown out of a few outfits, taken a trip to St. George, and our already mentioned Orem trip for Easter. Last week Bryson and I got some energy and took a walk to the Post office, and crashed for a nap when we got home. (Though 6 weeks has gone by, I still can't exercise like I would like to! Walking is all the doctor will approve). This past Saturday was spent watching Adam hit some golf balls at the driving range, and Bryson even slept through his first outdoor picnic! To our great surprise we even had a visit from Christina and Paul Homolik. It was great to visit with them! The weather has been really nice here the past couple of days! (around the low 70's. I know you in Utah are all jealous!)

We wish at times there was an owners manuel on how to raise these little infants, but I am sure we will ask for an owners manual for when he is going through the terrible twos, awkward pre-teens, and High school years. Trials are there, but we are SO grateful to be parents to this special spirit and enjoy this new exciting experience. Here are a few more of our favorite pictures from the past couple of weeks. Update

Bryson turned one week old yesterday. WOW has this week gone by fast!

Because of the C-section, Mandy was in the hospital from Wednesday until Saturday morning. We had lots of great visitors, including both sets of Grandparents, some aunts, uncles, and cousins!

Valentines Day was not quite as romantic as it has been in years past. Luckily we went to a new restaurant in town the Friday before he was born to celebrate. Mandy's meal on Valentines day consisted of Jello and chicken broth, and Adam enjoyed a nice quick meal at his parents house. He did however, give me some BEAUTIFUL flowers and a certificate for a pedicure. Just what a new mommy needs!

Coming home was so nice. Bryson slept the whole way home from Kanab to Page! He looked SO dang cute. All of the nurses were excited about his outfit. We were such proud parents!


Mandy's parents followed us from Kanab. Mandy's mom offered to come and stay for a week to get us back on our feet. MAN has it been nice to have her here. She has cooked for us, cleaned our house and done ENDLESS loads of laundry. There are so many things that are unexpected when bringing home a new baby. Mandy's emotions have run wild and the "feeding frenzie" has been a rollercoaster to say the least. We are starting to get the hang of things ... just hope that we can do it when Mom leaves!
To our surprise, Mandy's sisters came down for a quick 24 hour visit to see little Bryson and hopefully cheer Mandy up. As most of new mommies know, the baby blues can be cruel!

Our Favorite Valentine

Bryson Adam Douglass was born on 2/13 at 11:22 a.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 12.9 oz. and was 19.1 inches long.

We went in to the hospital at 9:00 a.m. on a scheduled appointment because we had learned the week before that Bryson was breech. The plan was to try and turn him in hopes that we would be able to deliver him naturally. The doctor came in at 10:40 to turn the baby. That only lasted a few minutes because they turned him and his heart rate dropped dramatically. He then turned back breech. Because the doctor thought this might happen, they had already prepared the Operating room for a c-section and at 11:22 a.m. we were the proud parents of a beautiful little boy.

Mom, Dad, and Bryson are all doing good (but tired). Here are some photos. We'll have more soon.

Bassinet!

Just wanted to post some pictures of the finished bassinet!

First - This is what it looks like. This bassinet was the one I slept in when I was an infant. Pretty sweet huh!

Then ... here is the darling original cover. Adam wasn't too keen on the Yellow flowers and bows, considering we are having a boy! 

SO I got an idea in my head from pottery barn kids ... 

and my mother-in-law Inez helped me create it! We are so excited! I am still finishing up the blue strip, and haven't "perfected" it yet, but it gives ya the idea!

Welcome 2008!

This year has started out with lots of busy tasks! I would say that my new years resolution is to update our blog more frequently, but with the baby coming, I know that isn't a realistic goal. So we will do the best we can, and show you how we ended 2007 and began 2008

We have spent a lot of time re-arranging our house, getting ready for the new baby and working on lots of projects. While up in Utah for Christmas, we were able to find a crib and dresser that fit our needs perfectly.

My mom also let us use the bassinet I used when I was a new baby. It came with a cover that had lots of ruffles and yellow flowers. Adam wasn't too keen on putting our baby "boy" in it, so Adam's mom and dad came over from Kanab and helped us out. Adam and his dad helped a lot by playing Adams new toy (Xbox)
and Adam's mom helped me create a new cover for the bassinet.
I am going to wait until I finish to show you ... but it is SO cute!

As if we didn't already have too much going on in our lives, last week we got quite a bit of rain, and even a little snow. Adam and I went to go to bed one night and saw a puddle of water by our door.  We found that our ceiling was leaking and it got behind our paint, causing a large bubble. We think we found the problem, but aren't too excited about having this event come when there are so many other things to worry about before the baby comes!
Christmas was one to remember. I was able to come up a few days early for a work Christmas party, and won two tickets, lower bowl to the Jazz / Lakers game in March. Hopefully we can make it up to Utah after just having a baby. We were there from Dec 19th - January 1st!  We spent a lot of time shopping, and preparing for Christmas day. It was a totally different experience trying to do all of your Christmas shopping in really 2 days! My parents are serving at the MTC and my nephew Tyson is there. Seeing that we were visiting from out of town, we have the opportunity to attend church at the MTC with my parents. We just happened to bump into Elder Dudley ... which was so great because I really didn't get to say goodbye before he left!

Christmas eve we went sledding with the family, had a great mexican dinner and let the kids destroy a pinata. A great day to say the least.

Christmas morning was spent with my parents. Santa did come and we were excited to see what he brought. We enjoyed spending the day relaxing & got together with the family Christmas night.


We also went to dinner with most of the family on New Years eve again, and played some of those GREAT games we got for Christmas (thanks Ryan & Debbie). To sum up our trip ... LOTS of bonding time, and we enjoyed every minute! We also both spent a few days at work between the two holidays ... what a blessing to have that ability with our jobs! 

Last, we took the tree & decorations down.
As much as I dread that blessed day, it got me excited to get things ready for our baby boy. We are 35 weeks ... Just 5 more weeks to go and counting the days! We will keep you updated, and hope to post a few more times before he comes.
